IRL第8戦アイオワ予選は、予選が開始して2台のマシンがタイムアタックを終えた後で大雨となり、予選はすべてキャンセルとなった。

スターティンググリッドは今年のドライバーズランキング順となり、スコット・ディクソンがポールを獲得した。フリー走行で好調な走りを見せていた武藤 英紀は惜しくも7番手スタートとなってしまった。
