NASCAR第23戦ミシガンは、ラウシュ・レーシングのカール・エドワーズが今季5勝目を挙げた。エドワーズは地元ミズーリの出身でミシガンでの優勝は2回目、この日は自身29歳の誕生日でもあった。また、エドワーズは前日のネーションワイドでも優勝している。
レースは最後グリーンホワイトチェッカーとなり、ランキングトップのカイル・ブッシュは2位に入った。デビッド・リーガンが3位。2位のブッシュ以外はトップ5をラウシュのフォードが独占した。また、初のポールスタートとなったブライアン・ビッカーズは7位となった。
ランキングではエドワーズが僅かにトップのブッシュとの差を縮めた。グレッグ・ビファエルとケビン・ハービックが3ランクアップした一方で、ジェフ・ゴードンとケーシー・カーンは3ポジションダウンした。チェイス決定まで残り3レースとなった。
