F2:マーチン・ブランドルの息子アレックス、F2にエントリー

アレックス・ブランドル　(C)Formula2 Series 拡大します

元F1ドライバーで、現在は英BBCコメンテーターを務めるマーチン・ブランドルの息子アレックス・ブランドル(18歳)が、来年から始まるF2シリーズにエントリーした。アレックスのエントリーはF2シリーズ10人目。

アレックスは今年フォーミュラ・パーマー・アウディで2年目のシーズンで、表彰台を3回獲得、ランキング6位となっている。
F2シリーズのマシンはウイリアムズF1チームの手により開発が進められており、ランキング上位ドライバーは同チームのF1マシンテストの機会が与えられる。

父のマーチン・ブランドルは、「F2マシンは、速く、コンペティティブで、強く、公平であり、見場が良くてコストも安い。両親とスポンサーにとってはお財布に優しい。F1への直接的な関連も重要だ」と評価している。

そのマーチンは、現役時代F3からF1へとステップアップしたため当時のF2レースを戦った経験はない。1983年イギリスF3シリーズでのアイルトン・セナとの激闘は伝説となっている。
